Pagani Huayra Roadster 2017

Pagani Huayra Roadster 2017

An open-air evolution of the spellbinding Huayra coupe, production will be limited to 100 cars worldwide – all of which have already been sold. A removable hard roof made from carbon and glass takes the place of the previous Huayra’s fixed head. ‘This is the most complicated project we have ever undertaken,’ says company owner and founder Horacio Pagani. Coming from a man with an eye for the ambitious, that’s quite a statement.

Engine - Gearbox

Same as the ‘regular’ Huayra – a 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged V12 from AMG, and a seven-speed, single-clutch Paddle shift gearbox. Ordinarily removing the roof from a car means adding weight in structure-strengthening measures, but the Pagani Huayra Roadster actually weighs less than its roofed counterpart, at 1280kg compared with a dry weight of 1350kg for the Huayra coupe. Thanks in main to the Huayra’s immensely stiff monocoque chassis, made from a mixture of exotic composites including the evocatively named carbo-titanium. With the reduced weight comes an increase in power, climbing to 754 bhp vs 722 bhp in the coupe. Conversely, torque output falls slightly from 811 lb ft to 738 lb ft.
Base price’ there’s an amusing turn of phrase – is quoted at € 2,280,000+VAT
. That’s before indulging in the no-doubt endless personalization options; no two Huayra Roadsters are likely to be quite the same.
