Ferrari FXX-K Evo

Ferrari FXX-K Evo

The Ferrari FXX-K is the ultimate customer car from Maranello, a track-only super-LaFerrari. At least, it was the ultimate – because now there’s an even faster version, the Ferrari FXX-K Evo. Like the original FXX-K, it’s designed purely for the track, and isn't road-legal. The product of more than 9000 miles of reliability testing, the FXX-K Evo is described as ‘an extremely limited-run model’, offered either as a complete car or as an upgrade package to be retro-fitted to existing FXX-K cars. The Evo is ‘aimed at a highly select group of Ferrari clients’ (Ferrari rarely uses the word ‘customer’), and there’s no mention of prices – it’s the sort of car where you don’t call Ferrari, they call you.

It’s even lighter than the FXX-K, despite gaining a sizeable fixed rear wing, courtesy of carbonfibre crafting methods learnt in F1. That twin-profile wing on the tail is part of a new aero package, designed with the help of Ferrari’s styling department to ensure it looks the part as well as hitting the numbers in the wind tunnel. Ferrari says the aero upgrades have been a year in the making, through a combination of CFD and wind tunnel tests. The FXX-K’s active rear spoiler is still fitted, and works together with the fixed wing, which features two side fins and a central fin. Ferrari says the FXX-K Evo features a downforce coefficient 23% greater than the FXX-K. That works out at 640kg at 200kph (124mph), and a whopping 75% more in total than a standard LaFerrari road car.
